Taxi torched in Valley

The normal life in the Kathmandu Valley has been disrupted slightly due to the general strike called by Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist today.
The strike enforcers have torched two taxis at Minbhawan and Gongabu in Kathmandu with the registration no Ba 1 Ja 5162 and Ba 1 Ja 283 respectively.
The public transports plying the roads have remained thin in the Valley but the private ones are in operation without any restrictions, according to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division in Kathmandu.
The educational institutions in the Valley, however, have been adversely affected due to the strike imposed in protest of the Sarlahi incident on July 5.
A clash between the landless squatters and policemen ensued when police demolished some illegally constructed huts at Sagarnath area of Sarlahi district.
Police have arrested 65 cadres of the CPN Maoist for enforcing strike and of them, 35 are from the Valley and rest from out of the Valley, according to CPN Maoist Spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Bishwakarma.
